Megan Rand – Founder Ginger Newtrition & Co-founder of Healthy Hormones LLC.
Support a dying breed; the redheads.
OK. So this isn’t actually true that the redheads are a dying breed, but it makes for a good introduction to my new business. Apparently all the “Gingers will be extinct by 2060” rumors and “Redheads are a dying breed” headlines were based on a false assumption. You can’t get rid of us that easily!
BUT, we are mutants and we do feel more pain, so you should still support us.
Red hair is caused by a mutation in the MC1R gene. It takes 2 parents passing on a mutated version of a gene to produce a redheaded child. That explains a lot (no offense mom and dad).
What does this all have to do with health and nutrition you ask?
A staple in my adrenal healing process was daily ginger turmeric tea. Ginger and I became fast friends. Now I am slightly obsessed with it.
My own struggle with low energy, recurring infections, adrenal fatigue and heavy metals (all while trying to balance family life with a corporate job) opened my eyes to a journey that does not require willpower and deprivation. I was able to heal my adrenals naturally and now have the energy to do what I am really passionate about.
More than my own health, my motivating factor in the holistic health field is the health of my daughter and her generation. When a 3 year old needs to be on a gluten free, dairy free, dye/additive free diet and still asks “Mama, why does my tummy always hurt?” I take this as a sign that we need to start paying more attention to our food supply.
I became a health coach and FDN Practitioner so that I could fulfill my passion of working with families and moms-to-be to improve their health in a way that doesn’t require deprivation or counting calories.
I am a Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® practitioner. I use functional lab work to understand any underlying imbalance. I like to consider myself a health detective and functional lab work is the key component in my detective kit. Instead of chasing symptoms, I search for the root cause. Looking at function of the hormonal, digestive and detoxification systems provides clues as to how we can support these pillars of health and help restore full function.
I am also Certified Holistic Health Coach and certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I received this training from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York, NY, USA, where I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts.
If you are wondering what consulting with a Ginger can do for you, I found this amazing information from DOterra Essential Oil.
“Psychologically, Ginger is arousing, opulent and stimulating… Ginger is therefore indicated for those who may have clear plans and good intentions, but who lack the personal drive and optimism to manifest initiative and take real or immediate action. Such individuals tend to procrastinate and doubt themselves, waiting for others to spur them on. Ginger can restore the exhilaration of achievement so that enthusiasm can resurface and moving forward is easier.” DOterra
Are you ready to take those clear plans and good intentions into action?
Providing families and individuals with the tools that they need to navigate today’s world of food by implementing simple, methodical steps that lead to permanent change. I use functional lab work to help dig deeper toward the root cause of a health concern instead of masking symptoms.
What would permanent change mean to you? This might mean more energy, weight loss, clearer skin and less headaches. Or it might mean finally going after that promotion, or standing up for what you believe in. My desire is that each person will find a perfect balance for themselves; Mind, Body and Spirit. By increasing your available energy and passion, I hope that this spark will carry over to the next generation.
Lily – Director of Social Media
This is Lily; the heart and soul of the business.
She not only does a fabulous job with social media but she also a model example of how adaptable children are.
At the age of 2 Lily was already on an elimination diet to figure out what was causing her rashes and stomach aches. When we narrowed it down to gluten and dairy, I was devastated that she would be the “weird” kid in school and have a hard time finding food that she could eat. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. Fortunately (and unfortunately) many of the other children at school have their long lists of foods that they are allergic or sensitive to.
Now, she is just as aware as I am of what foods have gluten and dairy, and it is more of a fact of life to her than a problem.
For other parents out there. Know this. You are not depriving your child by feeding them vegetables, fruit and whole grains. You are not depriving them by withholding the foods that you have found cause a reaction, no matter how small. This is for their health, and they are very adaptable.
Our goal is to use our failures and successes to help other families who are struggling with the same process. Let’s join together to make a change in what we choose to eat and buy, and therefor help with the shift toward more natural products.
We vote 3 times a day on our food supply, with what we chose to buy. What will you support?
